Les travaux sur \u00ab&nbsp;la Chine en Afrique&nbsp;\u00bb ont occult\u00e9 l\u2019importance de l\u2019\u00e9mergence de la Chine pour ses voisins les plus proches. Cette omission est particuli\u00e8rement flagrante dans le cas de l\u2019Asie du Sud-Est qui a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 le principal th\u00e9\u00e2tre des engagements commerciaux de la Chine avec le monde. Consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme l\u2019arri\u00e8re-cour naturelle de la Chine, l\u2019Asie du Sud-Est est un laboratoire complexe et h\u00e9t\u00e9rog\u00e8ne des circulations et des identit\u00e9s en construction \u00e0 l\u2019aube du \u00ab&nbsp;si\u00e8cle chinois&nbsp;\u00bb. La question des relations entre la Chine et le reste du monde est tant\u00f4t pens\u00e9e en termes de domination, de menace, d\u2019exploitation, et de soutien aux r\u00e9gimes autoritaires, tant\u00f4t en termes d\u2019aubaine et d\u2019opportunit\u00e9s de d\u00e9veloppement. Cette recherche propose de d\u00e9passer cette approche binaire en d\u00e9crivant les strat\u00e9gies mises en \u0153uvre par les acteurs locaux pour att\u00e9nuer l\u2019in\u00e9galit\u00e9 des rapports de force, n\u00e9gocier l\u2019asym\u00e9trie, contourner l\u2019h\u00e9g\u00e9monie, embrasser, r\u00e9sister ou manipuler les termes dict\u00e9s par les capitaux chinois. Ce pr\u00e9sent Carnet, centr\u00e9 sur les pays de l\u2019ancienne Indochine fran\u00e7aise \u2013 le Cambodge, le Vi\u00eat&nbsp;Nam et le Laos \u2013 constitue la premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape d\u2019un projet \u00e9ditorial plus large qui se donne pour ambition de relever ce d\u00e9fi.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Oscillating between fascination and fear, enthusiasm and outright hostility, the new Chinese migration raises many questions. The prolific literature on \u201cChina-in-Africa\u201d has obscured the significance of China\u2019s emergence as a global player for its closest neighbours This omission is particularly glaring in the case of Southeast Asia, which has historically been the main theatre of China\u2019s commercial engagement with the world. Considered China\u2019s natural backyard, Southeast Asia is a crucial laboratory to describe the complexity and the heterogeneity of mobilities and identities in the so-called \u201cChinese century\u201d. The relationship between China and the rest of the world is either thought of in terms of domination, threat, exploitation, and support for authoritarian regimes, or in terms of windfall and development opportunities. This research aims to provide a fine-grained and nuanced analysis to counter the dominant binary view of Chinese engagements in Southeast Asia by describing how local actors mitigate their unequal power relations with China, negotiate asymmetry, circumvent hegemony, embrace, resist or manipulate the terms dictated by Chinese capital.
